Tara National Park territory administratively belongs to the municipality of Bajina Basta (29,049 inhabitants). Within the area of Tara National Park there are few villages with a permanent residential population - Jagostica, Rastiste, hamlet Jasikovice (village Solotusa) and Cokic hamlet (village Raca).
Villages at Tara are typical mountain villages of "Old Vlach type" based on the cleared land between the forest complexes.
Jagostica (152 inhabitants) and Rastiste (471 inhabitants) are villages that are entirely within the National Park are.
In the protection zone of the park there are villages Perucac (813 inhabitants), Zaovine (442 inhabitants), Beserovina (212 inhabitants), Zaugline (347 inhabitants), Solotusa (1075 inhabitants).
People at Tara today are engaged in traditional mountain farming and livestock breeding, exploitation of timber and rural tourism.
